Zebra ZT230

The ZT230 is the printer the ZT231 replaced — the same compact, bi-fold-door footprint, but a metal media cover, a multiline graphic LCD with a physical keypad instead of a colour touchscreen, and no RFID or Applicator Interface at all. Thermal transfer is a factory-installed option on top of the direct-thermal-standard build, not a field upgrade.

Programmable print speed runs 51-152 mm/s in 1-inch increments, over a 104 mm maximum print width and up to 3988 mm of continuous print length at 203 dpi. Media runs 19.4-114 mm wide on rolls up to 203 mm OD on a 76 mm core; ribbon runs 40-110 mm wide, 450 m to a roll, wound ink-side out. Communication is USB 2.0 and RS-232 Serial as standard, with one option slot for Parallel, a 10/100 Ethernet print server, or 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi.

A liner take-up option, factory-installed only, rewinds an entire 8-inch roll of liner alongside the peel function — a ZT230-exclusive; the ZT220 doesn't get it. Firmware is ZPL/ZPL II plus EPL (203 dpi models only) for legacy format compatibility, and XML-enabled printing for direct XML label formatting without a separate print server.
